Elizabeth Warren: Donald Trump Can’t Handle That He’s ‘Losing to a Girl’

Aug. 9, 2016

The senator said Trump's comments amounted to death threats

Donald Trump drew fierce scorn for making comments that appeared to endorse violence against Hillary Clinton or her future judicial nominees on Tuesday, and Mass. Sen. Elizabeth Warren was quick to wade into the fight.

“If [Clinton] gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks,” Trump said at a rally in North Carolina. “Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”

Warren took to her Twitter account to mock and condemn Trump’s incendiary language, writing that the Republican candidate “makes death threats because he’s a pathetic coward who can’t handle the fact that he’s losing to a girl.”

“Your reckless comments sound like a two-bit dictator, ,” she subsequently added. “Not a man who wants to lead the greatest democracy on the planet.”

Trump’s campaign said he was not calling for violence, but lauding the “power of unification” and saying Second Amendment supporters would unify to support Trump. Clinton’s campaign begged to differ: “This is simple—what Trump is saying is dangerous,” said campaign manager Robby Mook. “A person seeking to be the President of the United States should not suggest violence in any way.”
