Former Miss Universe Becomes Citizen In Order to Vote Against Trump

Aug. 23, 2016

'Miss Piggy can vote,' she said, referring to Trump's slur against her

Former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, who Donald Trump allegedly called “Miss Piggy,” is excited about the election.

Machado, who was born in Venezuela, posted an Instagram earlier this week of her holding an American flag and announcing her new citizenship, and her plans for what she’ll do with it. “I so proud and inspiration to be a U.S. Citizen! I’ll be Voting!” she wrote in the caption. “All my power and my support become with my next President @hillaryclinton.”

“Miss Housekeeping and miss Piggy Can Vote @realdonaldtrump,” she added, referring to Trump’s nickname for her, which apparently was used to make fun of her accent and heritage.

During Donald Trump’s tenure as a judge and owner of the pageant, women have claimed that he would make them line up so he could sort out which ones he found attractive. He also has been accused of inappropriately kissed the contestants and saying things like, “I don’t care if she’s sweet. Is she hot?”

Trump’s comments on immigration led NBC to end their relationship with the pageant altogether. The franchise is now owned by WME/IMG.
