Melania Trump Thanks Emily Ratajkowski for Having Her Back

Feb. 14, 2017

The model defended the First Lady against 'slut shaming'

First Lady Melania Trump shared a feminist message on Twitter to thank Emily Ratajkowski for having her back.

Ratajkowski tweeted on Monday that an unnamed New York Times reporter, who doesn’t cover politics or Washington, had referred to the First Lady as a hooker. “Whatever your politics, it’s crucial to call this out for what it is: slut shaming. I don’t care about her nudes or sexual history and no one should,” Ratajkowski wrote. “Gender specific attacks are disgusting sexist bullsh—.”

On Monday night, Trump responded to the model’s comments on Twitter. “Applause to all women around the world who speak up, stand up and support other women!” the First Lady wrote.

The Times said in a statement that editors had spoken to the reporter in question about the remark. “The comment was not intended to be public, but it was nonetheless completely inappropriate and should not have occurred,” the statement said.
