Melania Trump Will Be a ‘Tremendous’ Advocate for Women

Feb. 17, 2017

According to President Trump

President Trump said First Lady Melania Trump will be a “very, very strong” advocate for women’s issues.

At a press conference this week, Trump said that his wife will focus, in part, on addressing “women’s difficulties.”

“I’ll tell you this, she is going to be a fantastic first lady, she is going to be a tremendous representative of women,” Trump said, according to CNN.

The first lady has largely stayed out of the spotlight during her husband’s first month in office, remaining in New York while her 10-year-old son, Barron, finishes up the school year. But she’s taken on more official duties in recent days, playing hostess to Israel‘s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, and announcing the reopening of the White House Visitors Office.

Meanwhile, first daughter, Ivanka Trump, has said she’ll also advocate for women’s issues in her role as first daughter. She attended a meeting with female business leaders hosted by President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday, which the first lady did not attend.

“Helping [Melania] and working with [Melania] will be Ivanka, who is a fabulous person, and a fabulous, fabulous woman,” he said. “They aren’t doing this for money, they aren’t doing this for pay, they are doing this because they feel it, both of them.”
